At keeeper, Polypropylene (PP) is the main raw material used to manufacture our products. Alongside virgin Polypropylene, we also use recycled Polypropylene obtained from different recycling streams. We have been continuously expanding the use of recycled Polypropylene in our manufacturing processes. Although the exact share may fluctuate from year to year depending on production requirements, product mix and the availability of suitable recycled materials, the long-term trend has been positive. Starting from 16 % in 2023, as of June 2026, recycled Polypropylene accounts for approximately 21 % of the total Polypropylene processed at our production site. Depending on the product and its intended application, we use two types of recycled material:
Post-Consumer Recyclate (PCR)
Recycled plastic made from household plastic waste collected after use through municipal recycling systems.
Post-Industrial Recyclate (PIR)
Recycled plastic made from manufacturing waste generated during industrial production before products reach consumers.
The actual recycled content of our products varies depending on product design, technical requirements and customer specifications. To provide clear and consistent information, the minimum recycled content of products containing PCR, PIR or rPET is indicated on the product packaging. Depending on the recycled material used, the declared minimum content is supported by external certification and verification (PCR eco line), internal production records (PIR), or supplier documentation (rPET, PCR).
All recycled materials help keep valuable plastic resources in use for longer, reduce the demand for virgin raw materials and support the transition towards a circular economy. Before being used in our products, they undergo appropriate processing and quality controls to ensure they are suitable for their intended application.
Some of our products also contain a second component – thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) – which is currently made from virgin material. TPE is used in features such as soft-touch handles, non-slip feet, or caps.

Within our storage, home & kids categories, you may find products labelled as eco line – what does it mean?
The eco line from keeeper is made from a special type of Polypropylene – Post-Consumer Recyclate (PCR). This is a plastic with a past and a future, made from post-consumer plastic waste collected through household recycling systems, such as the Yellow Bin or Yellow Bag in Germany. After collection, the plastic is carefully sorted, cleaned, shredded and processed into high-quality recycled plastic granulate by certified suppliers. This recycled material is then used at keeeper as a raw material to manufacture new plastic products.
By using post-consumer recycled materials, existing plastic resources can remain in the material cycle for longer and the demand for virgin plastic can be reduced.
The proper usage of PCR in our eco line has been independently assessed by a third party and meets defined environmental and health-related criteria. The environmental benefits are independently assessed against the Blue Angel criteria and verified through Blue Angel certification – the official environmental label of the German Federal Government. This certification is based on clearly defined criteria developed and regularly reviewed by independent expert bodies.
The certified eco line products contain at least 80 % post-consumer recycled plastic (share of PCR in the total plastic content by mass of the product) in accordance with the Blue Angel Basic Award Criteria.

The recycled content declared for these products is based on production data provided by our supplier and is indicated directly on the product labels. It refers to the percentage of post-consumer recycled plastic relative to the total plastic content by mass of the product.

Some of our products in the storage & home categories are made using Post-Industrial Recyclate (PIR).
Unlike PCR, which originates from household plastic waste, PIR comes from plastic generated during industrial manufacturing processes before products reach consumers. Typical sources include clean polypropylene production off-cuts, trimmings and other manufacturing residues that are recovered and reprocessed instead of being discarded.
All of our non-conforming products and Polypropylene manufacturing residues are recovered through appropriate recycling and material recovery processes. The majority of this material is reprocessed into PIR granulate by a specialized recycling partner and reintroduced into our products, while selected material streams are reused directly in our production where technically feasible. A small fraction of Polypropylene residues, including recovered plastic pellets, is transferred to specialized recyclers for further recovery.
In addition, we source post-industrial recycled Polypropylene from qualified external suppliers to complement our internal recycling streams and ensure consistent material availability and quality.
Products containing PIR are not eligible for Blue Angel certification, as the scheme applies specifically to products manufactured from post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR).

All keeeper PIR-made products contain at least 85 % post-industrial recycled plastic, expressed as the share of PIR in the total plastic content by mass of the product. This claim is substantiated by internal production records and material balances.
A limited number of products within our portfolio are manufactured using recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET). These include neo & nea shopping organizers and insulated bags.
Unlike recycled polypropylene, which is widely used in our own manufacturing processes, rPET is used in selected products listed above. It is sourced primarily from post-consumer PET beverage bottles, which are collected, sorted, cleaned and mechanically recycled into high-quality raw material suitable for manufacturing durable plastic products. Before being used in our products, rPET is subject to appropriate quality controls to ensure it is suitable for its intended application.
By using rPET sourced from post-consumer PET bottles, we give valuable packaging materials a second life in durable household products, helping to extend the use of existing resources.
For neo & nea, we communicate the equivalent number of post-consumer PET bottles used to manufacture the products. This value is calculated individually based on the recycled PET content of each product. Documentation supporting these claims, including the calculation methodology.
Post-consumer recycled Polypropylene (PCR PP) is obtained from Polypropylene products that have been used and disposed of by consumers before being collected, sorted and recycled into new raw material.
Post-industrial recycled Polypropylene (PIR PP) is recovered from industrial production processes before reaching the consumer. It is reprocessed and reused as raw material for new Polypropylene products.
Recycled PET (rPET) is recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate, typically obtained from used PET bottles and other PET packaging through mechanical recycling.
Unless stated otherwise, recycled content is expressed as the percentage of recycled plastic relative to the total plastic content by mass of the product.
Non-plastic components, such as metal handles or fasteners, are excluded from the calculation.
Blue Angel-certified products contain at least 80 % post-consumer recycled Polypropylene (PCR PP), in accordance with the applicable Blue Angel Basic Award Criteria.

No. Products made from recycled Polypropylene or recycled PET are designed to meet the same applicable quality and performance requirements as comparable products made from virgin materials.
Some products contain a limited proportion of virgin Polypropylene or other plastic components to meet specific technical, functional or manufacturing requirements.
