Founding

1959 1971 1986 1991

1959

The ironworks SULO (Streuber & Lohmann Eisenwerke GmbH & Co. KG) from Herford builds a plastics production factory in Stemwede with the aim of adding household goods made from plastics to its portfolio. The state-of-the-art SULO factory creates new jobs in the Stemwede region; its construction soon leads to the building of two new housing estates close by.

1971

Luigi Colani, an internationally well-known and avant-garde designer, creates a baby product collection for SULO in 1971.

The timeless, aesthetic design of the baby bath ensured that it has remained a bestseller to this day and is still sold by the keeeper brand.

1986

Aerobics & video games... plastics are becoming green. Establishment of the company OKT Kunststofftechnik GmbH in 1986 at the Stemwede-Oppenwehe headquarters.

1991

The fall of the Berlin Wall unlocks new opportunities in former East Germany and beyond: Wrede Industrieholding GmbH & Co. KG becomes the majority shareholder and founds OKT Polska sp.zo.o. at the Bydgoszcz site in Poland.

Development

2005

OKT is being further expanded: after building up a second production hall, an on-site tool design and manufacturing shop is added to the Bydgoszcz site. This allows us to optimize in-house the entire value chain, from the initial product idea to delivery.

2009

The "BUSINESS UNIT BABY" is established in order to focus more intensively on the babies and kids segment. Child-friendly products are sold under the "Prima Baby" logo.

2011

The in-mould labelling technology is introduced in our manufacturing. From now onwards, all decorative patterns are embedded directly in the plastic using the Inmould-Labeling (IML) method. This technology offers the advantages of brilliant colours, improved scratch resistance and outstanding durability. Almost limitless design possibilities arise.

2013

For unification purposes and to strengthen the OKT brand, "Prima Baby" becomes the brand "OKT Kids". The new website goes online in 2013.

Expansion

Strategic launch of the consumer and retail brand keeeper and renaming of the company to keeeper GmbH. A very symbolic and appealing signet is chosen for the new company's wordmark and logo: a squirrel, which likes to store things, which is popular with young and old and which loves to be in the nature.

2017

With an innovative brand concept, keeeper GmbH has successfully established itself as a modern and emotional end consumer brand. In June 2017, the company wins the German Brand Award for outstanding brand management.

2018

Launch of the keeeper kitchen collection to the market; in 2019, several of the products from this innovative range of kitchen products win the pro-K award as well as the Kitchen Innovation Award.

2019

In June 2019, the keeeper Group is taken over by Mutares SE & Co. KGaA. The company’s strategic orientation is being readjusted and optimizations are implemented throughout the entire value chain.

2020

Production is being comprehensively modernized and expanded by implementing LEAN standards from the automotive industry. Our standards in production, quality and logistics raise productivity to a top level that represents the European benchmark in the industry.

2021

A new 17,910-square-meter logistics building with the capacity to store 20,000 pallets goes into operation in order to be able to respond to customer requirements with maximum flexibility.

2022

The production area and the logistics processes are continuously optimised. Robots now deal with elaborate processes, and the picking process in the order picking area is made easier by the use of movers. The use of digitization allows further gains in efficiency.

The development of a new product has been completed: baby potty 4in1 deluxe "kasimir" is launched to the market and wins the Red Dot Design Award 2022.

The innovative potty has also been selected by the German Association of Toy Retailers (BVS, „Bundesverband des Spielwaren-Einzelhandels“ ) as the highlight of the year for the “TOP 10 Baby & Kind 2023”.

Now

In 2024, keeeper is taking a decisive step towards becoming a consumer brand with the introduction of the new claim “keep what you love.” With emotional key visuals, vibrant colors and an appealing website, keeeper makes a big step towards a true love brand.

As the European market leader in affordable and sustainable household products, our vision is to demonstrate the possibilities for sustainability and efficiency in our industry. To keep what we love also means to protect our world, which is why sustainability is a key component of our vision. keeepy is always on the lookout for effective solutions to preserve its habitat. In the process, however, keeepy also leaves traces. We are constantly working to keep our ecological pawprint as limited as.

Logistics

We are constantly optimizing our logistics processes.

The results: We produce and buy exclusively in the EU and thus guarantee short supply routes.

Material

From granules to packaging - nothing goes to waste with us. Even even internal polymer waste is 100% reused.

Our items are durable and - depending on the item - can be 100% recycled.

CO2

In the manufacture of our products, we use 90% less energy compared to glass or ceramics. For heating our production and commissioning, we use 100% of the waste heat from the cooling systems of the production facilities.

Packaging

Packaging made of paper and cardboard originates from sustainable cultivation (FSC) and is clearly labelled for the end customer so that it can be returned to the recycling loop.

Production

Thanks to our use of the latest technologies, we can eliminate 100% of of the scrap in the production and reduce material consumption.

We use 100% our plastic waste to make new products.

Longevity of our products: preserving things that are important to you and many of our earth’s natural.

In the service of the environment.

Labels indicate that our products are safe and durable. The BLUE ANGEL eco label, for example, attests to the fact that our eco line products are twice as resource-friendly, because they are not only produced sustainably, but can also be disposed of and recycled in a sustainable manner.

Relevant processes for more sustainability are integrated in our ISO 9001 management system resources.

Can plastic be bought with a good conscience?

The invention of plastic changed our world substantially. There would be no computers, mobile phones, no modern medicine and no protective clothing without it. Plastic is part of modern life, makes it easier and more hygienic.

The copious possibilities provided by the plasticity and stability of plastic are immeasurable. Which is also why alternative materials are not necessarily a better choice either. The sustainability of natural resources, cost and efficiency of their processing, the water and energy consumption and recyclability have an ever larger role to play in the selection of materials.

A sustainable lifestyle is no luxury, but a question of attitude. Everyone can do their bit to make our planet a little better. We have always been contributing to this, developing a great number of articles that help to make a sustainable lifestyle even more enjoyable.

And we are now taking one further leap by consistently orienting our brand towards a resource-saving approach to our environment: By 2025, we want to make most of our products from environment-friendly materials that not only protect their contents, but also our planet.

keeeper only uses thermoplastic materials that are recyclable. Thermoplastics processing consumes a lot less energy than the production of glass or ceramics, for example. 98 % of the granulate processed at keeeper consists of pure polypropylene (PP) and is therefore easily recyclable.

The waste disposal industry’s latest scanner technologies are able to extract and reuse this material from plastic waste virtually unmixed. In addition keeeper products are regularly tested by officially recognized test institutes to ensure the highest quality and product safety.

The protection of our planet and the conscious use of our resources are top priorities for us. Various certificates, such as the Climate Protection Certificate, demonstrate what we have already achieved for the environment and climate protection. By using procyclen® in our production, we have been able to save almost 1000 tons of greenhouse gases in the past two years!

This is equivalent to the CO2 emissions of 500 cars with combustion engines! We are also proud that our eco line products have been awarded the BLUE ANGEL eco-label! The seal has been the German government’s environmental label for over 45 years and gives our customers a reliable sign of the environmental friendliness of our products.
