A journey back in time through the history of our company.

The ironworks SULO (Streuber & Lohmann Eisenwerke GmbH & Co. KG) from Herford builds a plastics production factory in Stemwede with the aim of adding household goods made from plastics to its portfolio. The state-of-the-art SULO factory creates new jobs in the Stemwede region; its construction soon leads to the building of two new housing estates close by.

Luigi Colani, an internationally well-known and avant-garde designer, creates a baby product collection for SULO in 1971.
The timeless, aesthetic design of the baby bath ensured that it has remained a bestseller to this day and is still sold by the keeeper brand.

Aerobics & video games... plastics are becoming green. Establishment of the company OKT Kunststofftechnik GmbH in 1986 at the Stemwede-Oppenwehe headquarters.

The fall of the Berlin Wall unlocks new opportunities in former East Germany and beyond: Wrede Industrieholding GmbH & Co. KG becomes the majority shareholder and founds OKT Polska sp.zo.o. at the Bydgoszcz site in Poland.

The "BUSINESS UNIT BABY" is established in order to focus more intensively on the babies and kids segment. Child-friendly products are sold under the "Prima Baby" logo.

For unification purposes and to strengthen the OKT brand, "Prima Baby" becomes the brand "OKT Kids". The new website goes online in 2013.

Strategic launch of the consumer and retail brand keeeper and renaming of the company to keeeper GmbH. A very symbolic and appealing signet is chosen for the new company's wordmark and logo: a squirrel, which likes to store things, which is popular with young and old and which loves to be in the nature.

With an innovative brand concept, keeeper GmbH has successfully established itself as a modern and emotional end consumer brand. In June 2017, the company wins the German Brand Award for outstanding brand management.

Launch of the keeeper kitchen collection to the market; in 2019, several of the products from this innovative range of kitchen products win the pro-K award as well as the Kitchen Innovation Award.

In June 2019, the keeeper Group is taken over by Mutares SE & Co. KGaA. The company’s strategic orientation is being readjusted and optimizations are implemented throughout the entire value chain.

The production area and the logistics processes are continuously optimized. Robots now deal with elaborate processes, and the picking process in the order picking area is made easier by the use of movers. The use of digitalization allows further gains in efficiency.

The development of a new product has been completed: baby potty 4in1 deluxe "kasimir" is launched to the market and wins the Red Dot Design Award 2022.

As part of its strategic development, the headquarters relocated to modern facilities in Germany, introduced a comprehensive brand refresh with a new PR and website strategy and focused on the development of innovative and sustainable products.

Launch of the innovative showroom and new webshop as part of the IDEAL Strategy, driven by five core pillars: Internationalization, Digitalization, Emotionalization, Agility and Longevity.

keeeper’s foldable insulation bags and shopping organizers neo and nea have received the Red Dot Award 2025 for Product Design. The jury praised their smart design, functionality and sustainable use of recycled PET bottles.
We ensure that our products and processes make responsible use of resources. By constantly searching for alternative materials, efficient processes, and durable products, we strive to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a more conscious approach to our environment. To keep what we love also means to protect our world, which is why sustainability is a key component of our vision.

The Blue Angel is more than just a label to us – it’s a promise. A sign that keeeper products don’t just bring joy to the moments that matter. It shows that we can make responsibility something you can truly feel: in every touch, every use, every moment our products make life a little easier and more mindful. This is what a good choice feels like.
The invention of plastic changed our world substantially. There would be no computers, mobile phones, no modern medicine and no protective clothing without it. Plastic is part of modern life, makes it easier and more hygienic.
The copious possibilities provided by the plasticity and stability of plastic are immeasurable. Which is also why alternative materials are not necessarily a better choice either. The sustainability of natural resources, cost and efficiency of their processing, the water and energy consumption and recyclability have an ever larger role to play in the selection of materials.
A sustainable lifestyle is no luxury, but a question of attitude. Everyone can do their bit to make our planet a little better. We have always been contributing to this, developing a great number of articles that help to make a sustainable lifestyle even more enjoyable.
And we are now taking one further leap by consistently orienting our brand towards a resource-saving approach to our environment: By 2030, we want to make most of our products from environment-friendly materials that not only protect their contents, but also our planet.
keeeper only uses thermoplastic materials that are recyclable. Current life-cycle assessments show that processing thermoplastics generally requires significantly less energy than producing glass, largely due to the energy-intensive high-temperature melting process in glass manufacturing and the lower weight of plastics, which reduces environmental impact per functional unit. 97,8% of the granulate processed at keeeper consists of polypropylene (PP) and PP regranulate, which makes our products easily recyclable.
Modern optical sorting technologies used in the waste industry (such as NIR and hyperspectral systems) reliably identify and separate rigid polypropylene (PP) products, enabling their efficient recovery for high-quality mechanical recycling. In addition keeeper products are regularly tested by officially recognized test institutes to ensure the highest quality and product safety.
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through more sustainable materials, energy-efficient production, and responsible sourcing. Our efforts are verified by certificates such as the Climate Protection Certificate issued by InterZero. By using procyclen® in our production processes between 2021 and 2024, we avoided 1,743.81 tonnes of CO₂e emissions. For context, the latest data from Eurostat show that the average resident of the European Union is responsible for approximately 9.06 tonnes of CO₂e emissions per year. This means that our emissions savings correspond to the annual emissions of around 192 people!
We are also proud that our eco line products have been certified with the BLUE ANGEL eco-label, awarded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, ensuring verified environmental performance. Trusted for more than 45 years, the label provides our customers with a credible and reliable sign of the environmental friendliness of our products.
