winter is over, so it’s off with the ski boots, on with the skis! what? yes, that’s right! spring is here, and the water-skiing season is upon us. the alfsee lake in our region is great for water-skiing. two cableway systems offer water-skiing and wakeboarding fun for beginners, as well as advanced and professional skiers. thanks to numerous ramps and other “obstacles”, the course is also the venue for many events and championships.
Absolute beginners are also very welcome, and they tend to come along to get their money’s worth on days when the weather is not quite so radiant, and the lake is less crowded. This is because: Anyone who is trying their hand at wakeboarding for the first time will get to swim (at least once!) in the Alfsee lake for free. And if you have to wait in the line for half an hour before your next attempt to go a few metres further, you will have tired legs, but unfortunately not from doing water sports…
Once you have made a start, you still need to fully focus on the curves. Make sure that you keep to the track between the buoys, or else you will have a cold dip and you will have to walk back to the start. One thing is certain, though: Once you have got the knack of the curves – and that doesn’t usually take very long at all – it is a real pleasure (although a little tiring) to go round again and again, and to cruise through the water on the wide boards, and, with a little courage, to be able to wave to the spectators on the shore.
After so much sport, you will have earned some refreshments. There are plenty of options in the Alfsee Strand Arena. From ice cream to Alster, from chips to cocktails: A visit to the Beach Bar or the Wasserski Bistro is the perfect way to end a sunny summer’s day of skiing. If you have managed to stay dry all day, you can make up for that by jumping into Alfsee Lake lido – or simply chill out and watch the world go by.
have fun!
